Benjamin Yuen films tough scene after father's death

27 Feb – TVB actor Benjamin Yuen admitted that it was tough filming his new drama, "The Defected" during the most challenging period of his life as his father passed away at the same time.

However, the actor admitted that it was tougher on his girlfriend Bowie Cheung, who had to film a scene that was eerily similar to what they experienced earlier.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who spoke about his father's death recently, shared that both he and Bowie were required to go back to work three days after his father's death and film a scene together – in which their characters were tasked to recognise a corpse in the mortuary.

"Everything was so similar [to what I experienced before]. I even had to lift up the cloth and see the corpse, who was also a policeman. Dickson Yu was playing the corpse, and he did fell into a coma before. The whole thing was very subtle," he said.

While Benjamin was able to compose himself, it was Bowie who had a hard time filming it.

"She could not stop crying and couldn't say her lines. Everybody in that scene tried their hardest not to cry with her. Only when it was too tough to do that the director called a break and asked everybody to calm down. They had to find a way to complete the scene," he said.

Benjamin said that he understood what was going on in Bowie's mind, since the actress just saw him and his family in the mortuary earlier, doing the same thing.

The actor admitted that nowadays, whenever he misses his father, he would look at his photos.

"I hope I can look at it every day and remember my feelings at the time, recall what we talked about. It sounds simple, but it is precious to me," he said.
