Barbie Hsu not divorcing after all?
7 Jun - Are they getting a divorce or are they not? After Taiwanese actress-singer Barbie Hsu announced that she is filing for divorce from businessman husband Wang Xiaofei, it is now reported that the announcement was only made in anger and that such a thing is not happening.
As reported on Mingpao, Barbie's mother has recently spoken to the media about the divorce, saying that Barbie was just saying it out of anger and that the family will help calm her down.
"Barbie and Xiaofei care a lot about their children and I will tell them to bear with it for now," she said.
The actress' manager is also saying a similar thing, stating that the couple only had a fight and that the whole thing was not a big deal.
It was reported that the issue between Barbie and her husband sparked after the mainland-born Wang decided to post on social media; mocking Taiwan for its handling of the pandemic and praising China instead, which angered the actress very much.
Wang reportedly expressed his ire as Barbie and their two children have yet to receive their vaccinations.
On the morning of 5 June, Barbie confirmed to the media that she was divorcing the businessman, and that proceedings are underway; while Wang himself stated that he knew nothing of it.
Wang had since apologised, saying that he had said some mean things as he was really worried about his family during the pandemic.
It is noted that Barbie and the children have been staying in Taiwan separately from Wang - who runs his business from mainland China - since the pandemic started.
Meanwhile, netizens are speculating that Barbie's outburst was not a result of a simple fight, noting that the actress has rarely mentioned her husband in recent years, and has even deleted many photos of them together from social media.
Barbie and Wang tied the knot back in 2010. They have two children together.
