The "Laut" star was given the honour at the 36th Fantasporto International Film Festival

8 Mar - Actress Barbie Forteza has recently been awarded Best Actress at the 36th Oporto International Film Festival in Portugal (also known as Fantasporto).

As reported on InterAksyon, the 18-year-old won the award through her performance in Louie Ignacio's "Laut", where she plays a member of the Sama d'Laut ethnic group who struggles to make ends meet following the group's migration from the seaside to an impoverished Badjao community.

Forteza tweeted her happiness over her victory at the international festival, and dedicated her win to her parents.

This is the third time the actress won an acting award in her eighteen years of life. She previously won New Movie Actress of the Year at the 2010 Star Awards for Movies, and Best Supporting Actress at the 2014 Cinemalaya International Film Festival for her role in "Mariquina".

Aside from Forteza, "Laut" also won the Special Jury Mention in the Director's Week section of the festival.
