Banyan Tree expands into Singapore at Mandai

Popular luxury hotel chain Banyan Tree will be an eco-friendly 338-room property in the Mandai Precinct. The rooms include 24 elevated treehouses in the shaped of seed-pods, which will be set amongst the trees surrounding the resort. It also aims to be the first Super Low Energy (SLE) resort in Singapore, with energy saving measures such as the use of natural ventilation and solar panels.

Daniel Craig undergoes surgery from Bond injury

Daniel Craig suffered an injury while performing stunts for the upcoming “Bond 25” movie. The film’s official Twitter account made the announcement about his injury and resulting surgery while filming in Jamaica.

Ozone-depleting gases traced to China

Chlorofluorocarbon-11 was widely used in fridges and to make foam insulation in the 1970s and 1980s. It was however banned in 1987 at the Montreal Protocol. Now researchers have found that factories in China have been releasing this ozone-depleting gas into the atmosphere, it was revealed yesterday.
