Bai Baihe and Chen Yufan have yet to file for divorce?
19 Apr - While Bai Baihe and Chen Yufan have confessed that they are no longer together for the past two years, rumours are rife that the couple have yet to file for divorce.
As reported on Tencent, Chinese paparazzo Zhuo Wei recently responded to a question about the status between Bai and Chen, saying, "According to the accurate information that I received, they've separated for over two years, but they haven't filed for divorce."
However, he added, "I believe that they are sincere in their protection and love for their family and relatives, and I understand why they're [keeping it a secret]."
According to a lawyer in China, if a couple didn't file for divorce even though they have been separated for two years and agree to end their relationship, they are still considered husband and wife by law.
The said legal expert shared that Chinese law doesn't recognise such divorce and that there are only two ways for it to be official.
On the one hand, they could get a divorce by agreement; in which both husband and wife take a signed divorce agreement to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get the certificate.
The other option, they could get divorce by litigation; whereby the couple will go to court to provide evidence of their marriage issues and the judge will decide whether they should get a divorce.
