Bae Doona and Jim Sturgess dating
22 May – Korean actress Bae Doona has finally admitted that she is in a relationship with British actor Jim Sturgess, ending speculations since 2012.
In a report from KDramaStars, Bae fessed up about her relationship with Sturgess after being asked about it at the Cannes Film Festival, where her latest outing "A Girl At My Door" is premiering.
"It was my former manager that denied the relationship. Jim Sturgess is my boyfriend," she said although she added that she was uncomfortable taking questions about her relationship with Sturgess, instead of her latest appearance.
"It's not something related to my job like attending a movie press conference...I think people are taking interest because it's a fun combination and people are curious, but the interest makes me feel uncomfortable. I would be thankful if people were not so interested," she continued.
Bae, who made her breakthrough after appearing in Bong Joon Ho's "The Host", had met with Sturgess when they were co-stars in the Wachowski's "Cloud Atlas" in 2012. Since then, the couple have been spotted together but Bae's agency HMS Entertainment had continued to claim to have no knowledge about their relationship status.
In "A Girl At My Door", Bae plays as a police officer who is helping a girl she suspects to be a victim of domestic violence. The feature length debut of Korean director July Jung is premiering at Cannes.
