Azwan Ali refuses to apologise for carnival shut down

4 Apr - Azwan Ali is refusing to apologise after he was accused of being the reason why the Karnival Fiesta Raya Baling in Kedah was shut down, causing many vendors that participated to lose money.

The entertainer known to many as Diva AA, whose video of him doing a dangdut-style dance performance on stage with several men during the event went viral and prompted backlash from many, stated that the whole thing was a defamation of his character.

"This is the biggest slander toward me and I will not hesitate on filing a lawsuit against those who humiliated me. Do not try me. The organiser accused me of being an uninvited guest? You can anticipate a notice from my lawyer," he said.

The 58-year-old also denied that he was the reason that the carnival was shut down, saying that the situation was being manipulated by irresponsible individuals.

"It was shut down because the carnival didn't get a lot of reception. But somehow, it was my performance that was being manipulated by those who want to ruin me," he added.

Thus, said Azwan, he will never apologise to the people of Kedah for it, adding that it will not affect him the least.

Earlier, organiser Maju Kedah Resources released an apology over the backlash, and stated that Azwan was invited by his TikToker friend Diva BB, who also participated in the carnival. The dance performance, they said, was unexpected and was not part of the programme.
