Awal Ashaari: It's important to be educated!

17 Jan - Awal Ashaari disagrees wholeheartedly with the idea that school is a waste of time.

The TV personality, who was one of the guests for a talk hosted by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia's Master of Communication Management students, said that he was surprised when he saw the video of one social media influencer, who shared his opinion about education.

"As a public figure, we have to understand that everything that comes out of our mouths will be taken seriously by the community. Honestly, I was surprised to see the clip because I thought he's very successful and knows what he's doing," he said.

Awal said that people, especially teenagers and young adults who are in a dilemma when it comes to pursuing their studies, could take it in a wrong way.

"As an adult, you have to show good example. For me, whatever you want to be, you have to be educated," he added.

Earlier this year, social media influencer As'ad Motawh sparked anger among netizens after he expressed his belief during a podcast that being in school wasted his time as his work now has nothing to do with what he learned in school.

"It depends on what you want to do in your life, and I understand that not everybody can succeed in life. But for me, I am not someone who is interested in school," he added.
