Audrey Hepburn Would Probably Love Givenchy Fall 2024

Though there is currently no creative director guiding the Givenchy vision — following Matthew Williams' departure in December 2023 — the show must go on, and go on it did. The in-house design team presented the brand's Fall 2024 offering on Thursday in Paris, channeling nostalgia through a modern lens. The collection incorporates one of the label's most famous signatures: There are little black dresses with Hubert de Givenchy-era necklines — Audrey Hepburn would no doubt approve.

"Seduction is a game of subtlety," read the show notes provided by the brand. "Within her instinctive elegance, the Givenchy woman charges her wardrobe with sensuality and suspense and defies the expectations of dress codes...Through a contemporary conversation with the archives of Hubert de Givenchy, the collection illuminates the flirtatious and suggestive aspects of the muses who inspired the founder, and projects them in the present-day character of his enduring Parisienne."

There's a unique play with shapes and lines among the garments, including asymmetrical mini skirts, high-low hemlines followed by floor-sweeping trains, reinterpreted roll necklines and dresses with panels shaping the front of the skirts. Tailoring is also a highlight, like the structured midi coats and strong-shouldered blazers.
