Ariana DeBose Responds to Critics Choice Awards Joke: "No I Didn't Find It Funny"

Ariana DeBose made it clear she wasn't here for a joke made about her singing abilities at the Critics Choice Awards—writing on Instagram Stories “No I didn’t find it funny. Lol."

As Deadline reports, Ariana's comment appears to be in regards to a scripted bit from Bella Ramsey and Anthony Ramos did while presenting the nominees for Best Song. As part of said bit, The Last of Us star joked, “And then there are the actors who also think that they are singers: Jack Black, Ariana DeBose, and Ken himself, Ryan Gosling."

When the camera panned over to Ariana (who was nominated for "This Wish" in Wish) she looked slightly confused. And fair enough, since—as Twitter was quick to point out—it makes pretty much zero sense that she was included alongside Ryan Gosling and Jack Black.

Ariana won an Oscar for her performance in West Side Story (which is quite literally a musical), and has also appeared in multiple Broadway shows including Hamilton. Like...she is a professional singer.

As one person put it, "Ariana DeBose, Oscar award winning, Tony nominated, OG cast member of Hamilton on BROADWAY…. 'THINKS she’s a singer'?!? Who wrote this bit?! I want names #CriticsChoiceAwards."
