Another Wes Anderson movie is coming. (Aren't they always?) And, as you'd expect, the cast list is proof that everyone in Hollywood is just sitting around waiting for the Texan filmmaker's calls. Also as expected, the new film—which is called Astroid City, by the way—will be set in a far away time. In this case, it's the 1950s, which promises another full-on aesthetic adventure.

The upcoming film has been written by Anderson, and it's based on a story created by the filmmaker and Roman Coppola. (Anderson will also direct and produce.) Astroid City will only add to the string of collaborations between the two filmmakers. The two previously teamed up on The Life Aquatic, the 2012 Oscar-nominated Moonrise Kingdom, and, most recently, The French Dispatch which was nominated for a Golden Globe following its 2021 release.

Though not much of the movie is known as of yet regarding plot, a few details have been released—as in, a remarkable collection of seriously impressive names. Here's everything we know about Wes Anderson's Astroid City.

What Is Astroid City About?

In regards to the plot, the movie will be "a poetic meditation on the meaning of life," according to a release. The film will take place in 1955 set against the backdrop of a fictional American desert town and its Junior Stargazer convention "which brings together students and parents from across the country for scholarly competition, rest/recreation, comedy, drama, romance, and more."
