Apl.de.Ap donates medical equipment to Pampanga

21 Feb – It was reported that Black Eyed Peas' Apl.de.Ap has recently donated medical equipment at a hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga.

According to Push, the equipment that the rapper provided is reportedly used to detect Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) - a potentially blinding disease caused by abnormal development of retinal blood vessels in premature infants.

Said Apl, whose real name is Allan Pineda Lindo, he relates to children with visual impairments as he had also experienced "legal blindness" growing up.

"I had a difficult time going through school so I want to prevent the youth and other kids to not go through the same difficulties so they can excel to gain education," he said.

In a post shared on Instagram, Apl wrote, "Four years ago we set out on a mission: to take part in curing blindness and visual impairments in the Philippines. The Apldeap Foundation delivered our first retinal camera outside of Manila to Davos. And today we delivered our second one to the Jose B Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital, Pampanga."

"Together, we can help the Philippines see a little clearer," he added.
