Anuar Zain will not judge singing competitions

18 May – Anuar Zain has no plans to follow the examples of other singers and become a judge for any singing competition.

Despite being known as one of the most popular male vocalists in Malaysia, the "Keabadian Cinta" singer stated that he has actually received lots of offers to do so many times for the past decade, but that he declined all of them.

"I just think that it doesn't suit me. I don't think I have the qualification to comment even if it's a prestigious entertainment show. It's enough for me to just sing and perform," he said.

Anuar stated that he is no fan of overly protective fans who refuse to accept any kind of negative comments from the jury when it comes to their favourite singer.

"Judges are actually very kind in that they want to help the competitors become better performers. But sometimes the fans don't understand that and would blame the judges instead," he said.

The singer said that he is not the kind who can withstand such bashing, which is why he would rather not get involved.

It is noted that Anuar had only appeared as a guest jury twice throughout his career, once for "Akademi Fantasia", and another for "Malaysian Idol".
