Anthony Wong explains why he accepts "Still Human"
3 Apr – Anthony Wong recently revealed that it was not the script nor the director that drew him to his new movie, "Still Human", but the story's relatability.
As reported on HK01, the actor, who has won two awards for his role as a paralysed man in the Oliver Chan film, shared that he doesn't believe in the idea that a good movie comes from a good script or a good director.
"You can't assume a movie would be good because the script is good. What if the director isn't? What if they are both good but the editing was bad?" he said.
Anthony said that he decided to accept the project because of how relatable the story is to a lot of people, including him. While his character is paralysed after a construction accident and facing the dilemma of being in his middle age, Anthony himself faced a similar issue when he was banned in China for his strong ideology, which subsequently hurt his career.
"He is paralysed physically, while mine is hidden. I can relate a lot to him. A story like this should have been made into a movie a long time ago, but it hasn't been done until now," he said.
