Annie Yi blasted by Anita Mui's fans over comments about self-worth

9 Jul – Annie Yi has recently sparked the wrath of Anita Mui's fans over her statement regarding the late Cantopop star.

As reported on Mingpao, the issue sparked late last month on the reality show, "Sisters Who Make Waves", where the Taiwanese singer decided to compare her outlook on life and love with Anita's own.

"I am fortunate because I was able to find my self-worth after finding love. There was nothing to lose. But if you fulfil your self-worth first, it would be very tragic, because you would have reached the very top of your career and end up like Anita Mui," she said.

Annie then explained her statement, saying that Anita had looked for love her entire life, and that she even wore a wedding dress on stage at the very end of her life.

It is noted that the late singer had worn a wedding dress in her last concert prior to her passing at the age of 40, saying that she wanted to see how it felt.

Fans of Anita were enraged over these comments, with one saying that Annie is not qualified to comment on the Cantopop diva. Another stated that it was Annie who does not understand that not all women want to get married, stressing that she has a very old-fashioned view about love and companionship.
