Anjali Devi dies at 86

16 Jan – Well-known Telugu actress Anjali Devi passed away two days ago on 13 January due to heart complications. She was 86.

According to Bollywood Life, the deceased actress was admitted into Vijaya Hospital, a private institution in Channai just four days ago for her heart ailment.

Born in 1927 as Anjani Kumari, the late actress was originally a stage actress. She then changed her name due to a request by director C. Pullaiah before he casted her as the heroine. She made her debut as the lead heroine opposite Akkineni Nageswara Rao in Telugu family drama "Balaraju".

Anjali has acted in more than 350 films and has produced 27 films under her banner Anjali Pictures. She is well known for her mythological role as Sita in "Lava Kusha" and roles in movies like "Suvarna Sundari" and "Anarkali". In Hindi cinema, she is better known for her roles in "Devta" and "Shri Ram Vanvas".

She is survived by her two sons and granddaughter.
