Angie Chiu's camp slams death hoax

26 Apr - Angie Chiu's camp has recently slammed rumours saying that the veteran actress has passed away.

As reported on Sohu, on 24 April, her studio released a statement on social media, saying that several gossip sites "with no moral standing" have maliciously published news of the actress' death in order to get clicks.

"For individuals or institutions that spread and disseminate such rumours, we have entrusted a law firm to preserve evidence and will take legal action to protect Ms. Angie Chiu's legitimate rights and interests. We hope that the media and Internet users who have reproduced or forwarded the aforementioned false information will delete it in a timely manner."

The response came swiftly after a number of netizens shared an article with the title "There is no more Bai Suzhen in the world, have a safe journey".

Bai Suzhen in this case is the name of the character Angie played in the hit '90s TV fantasy drama, "The Legend of White Snake".

Angie, the third runner up in the 1973 Miss Hong Kong pageant, was one of TVB's four major actresses in the 1970s aside from Liza Wang, Gigi Wong, and Louise Lee.
