Angelababy assures safety following earthquake in Sichuan

21 Jun – Chinese actress Angelababy recently took to social media to assure her safety following the earthquake that occurred in Sichuan.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who was working in the neighbouring city of Chengdu prior to the earthquake, first posted her whereabouts on 10.25pm with a photo of her wearing a fluorescent pair of shoes and giving a peace sign as she started work in the area.

Approximately 45 minutes later, as the 6.0-magnitude earthquake hit Sichuan city of Yibin followed by the subsequent 5.2-magnitude aftershock, Angelababy took to Weibo again, writing, "I just felt a tremor in Chengdu. I am scared."

After four minutes, she updated her status again, posting, "Earthquake, ran down 20+ flights of stairs. I was scared. The tremor was obvious. Hope everyone stays safe."

Other celebrities also recently went online to express their concern and send their prayers to the victims.

Lin Chi-ling, who posted her first message online since announcing her marriage, wrote, "I hope everyone is safe", while Charlie Yeung expressed, "May the victims rest, remember to pay attention to safety and protect yourselves and your families."

Selena Li wrote, "I hope everyone will be brave in the face of disaster, and hope that people in the disaster area will be safe."
