Angel Locsin named in Forbes' "Heroes of Philanthropy"

5 Dec – Angel Locsin was recently named one of Forbes Asia's annual "Heroes of Philanthropy".

As reported on Rappler, in an article released by the said magazine, Forbes recognised the "Darna" star for her donating over P1 million to survivors of the 2019 Mindanao earthquakes and making sure that the relief reached the target receivers.

It added, "Over the past decade, Locsin has donated as much as P15 million to causes such as educational scholarships for students, supporting the economic and political rights of indigenous people, and ending violence against women and children."

"Her donations have also helped roughly 500 families hit by some of the country's largest disasters: Tropical Storm Ondoy in 2009, Typhoon Habagat in 2012 and Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, one of the deadliest storms on record, leaving 6,300 dead."

It is noted that Locsin also previously skipped the ABS-CBN Ball 2019, and donated directly to Bantay Bata.

The list honours "billionaires, entrepreneurs, and celebrities across the region who are committed to solving some of the most pressing issues facing the Asia-Pacific".

Others named in the list included Chinese tycoon Jack Ma, and fellow Filipino Hans Sy.
