Andy Lau and Tony Leung reunite in first movie in 18 years

22 Feb – Following rumours that Tony Leung, Andy Lau and Simon Yam were to be reunited in a new movie, Emperor Motion Pictures (EMP) has now confirmed that the project is set to be in motion soon.

As reported on Mingpao, Emperor Group Chairman Albert Yeung recently held a press conference announcing the said project. He revealed that he will be investing HKD 350 million into the new movie, "Goldfinger" to star four of Hong Kong's biggest stars that include the three aforementioned actors as well as drama star Alex Fong Chung Shun.

Admitting that it was a big risk to take in investing such a large amount into a movie during the pandemic, Albert expressed confidence that it would pay off just to see Tony and Andy together again in a movie and that it will bring glory to Hong Kong films.

The upcoming film will be helmed by Felix Chong ("Project Gutenberg", "Overheard") and will mark the first collaboration between Tony and Andy in 18 years following "Infernal Affairs".

"Of course I am happy," said Tony. "Sometimes you develop a great chemistry after numerous collaborations. I believe this will be no different than before. It's going to be a lot of fun. I really look forward to this chance of working together," he said.

Andy concurred, saying that he had expected to work with Tony after reading the script, and hopes that they will be able to make an exciting film for everyone.
