Andie MacDowell's Cannes wardrobe is a masterclass in how to dress for a city break

Never know what to pack on a city break? Well, luckily for us, Andie Macdowell has delivered a lesson in exactly what to wear, showcasing a perfect selection of outfits while she's been in Cannes this week.
The star joined a long list of famous faces in France for the 2024 Cannes Film Festival this month, which kicked off on Monday (20 May). On the red carpet, Andie opted for a timeless evening look with a flowing black jumpsuit.
She polished off her look with a sleek ponytail, and a pair of over-size statement earrings featuring a large black stone framed in silver.
It was giving relaxed, but effortlessly chic. Isn't that what we're all hoping for while stepping out to dinner while on holiday?
Of course, for any city break, chic yet comfortable outfits to wear while exploring the sights are essential - but are often easier said than done. This week, Andie delivered two on-point examples of exactly what to choose in these situations.
On Wednesday (22 May), the actor was spotted out and about in a loose white shirt with billowing sleeves, which she wore tucked into a classic pair of high-waisted linen trousers. Just add your favourite sunnies and it's good to go.
Of course, no city break wardrobe is complete without that one summer dress which suits any situation and can easily transition from day to night. Andi opted for a white maxi dress with green and blue floral print, which she dressed up with a white blazer. Adding metallic flats also helps elevate a daytime classic.
Usually on a city break, you might decide to have at least one nice dinner out or have some drinks to attend. You'll want an elegant evening look which isn't too formal and Andi's monochrome grey look serves as stunning inspiration, as she stepped out in Cannes on Thursday (23 May).
Andi paired a wrap-around grey top and leather midi skirt with a glossy blow dry of her silver locks. She finished the look with a black sling-back stiletto - perfection.
