Amy Schumer & Goldie Hawn’s ‘Mother/Daughter’ Adds Wanda Sykes

EXCLUSIVE: The already comedic high standards of 20th Century Fox’s Mother/Daughter has taken it up even more with Wanda Sykes joining the Amy Schumer– and Goldie Hawn-led pic, I’ve learned. Sykes addition to the cast of Jonathan Levine-directed film scripted by Ghostbusters writer Kate Dippold comes just one day after The Mindy Project’s Ike Barinholtz got on board.

Emmy winner Sykes will play Ruth, a hotel resident offering some advice to the traveling characters played by Schumer and Hawn. Filming is set to start at the end of May in Hawaii. The Mother/Daughter script is based on Dippold’s relationship with her own mother.

Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are producing the pic through Chernin Entertainment, and Paul Feig and Jessie Henderson are producing through Feigco Entertainment. Providing additional script work, Schumer and Kimberly Caramele are also EPS along with Dippold while Daria Cercek is overseeing for 20th Century Fox.

Before heading to America’s 50th state, Sykes will be shooting her upcoming Epix comedy special this weekend at the Ace Theatre in downtown LA. The special is scheduled to air on October 21. Even before then, Sykes will be back with be back with Ray Romano, Denis Leary and the rest of the Ice Age gang this summer. The fifth pic in the franchise, Fox’s Ice Age: Collision Course, will be released on July 22.

Sykes is repped by UTA and attorney Roger Pliakas.
