Amy Poehler and Tina Fey Spoof on 'Star Wars' in Silly New 'Sisters' Promo

Breathe a sigh of relief cinema purists and old-school Maya Rudolph fans: Sisters will emphasize practical effects and honor the legacy of the outrageous party comedies that came before it.

The upcoming flick, which features Fey and Poehler as two very different sisters throwing one last bash at their parents’ house, has a lot of people very excited. But it’s unfortunately opening on Dec. 18 against perhaps the most anticipated film in history: Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It is a very unenviable task, but at least they’re approaching it with a sense of humor.

In a new video released Thursday (above), the stars and filmmakers behind Sisters re-create the earnest and nostalgic behind-the-scenes sizzle reel that Lucasfilm showed Star Wars fans at Comic-Con this summer (watch at the bottom of the post).

Fey, Poehler, Rudolph, and co-stars such as Ike Barinholtz and Paula Pell wax poetic about how much having real humans inside an actual house on set meant to them, and how much that physical presence helped with production — it’s all about making a film that feels real. After all, fans would totally be able to tell the difference between a real Maya Rudolph in a gorilla costume and a digital version.
