Amber Heard To Join Aquaman, Debut In Justice League
Amber Heard is reportedly in discussions to join âAquamanâ, with reports suggesting that she will play Mera, the love interest to Jason Momoaâs Arthur Curry.
The Hollywood Reporter have alleged that the Heard will actually make her debut in Warner Bros.â DC Extended Universe in the first âJustice Leagueâ film, which is due out in 2017, a year before Aquamanâs solo flick.
Amber Heard is a solid choice to appear in the DC Extended Universe, having proven with the likes of âMagic Mike XXLâ, âThe Rum Diaryâ, and, most recently, âThe Danish Girlâ, just how magnetic she can be.
Mera is a pretty important character in Aquamanâs oeuvre, having first appeared in the comics all the way back in 1963. She has the ability to control and even solidify water, is the main love interest of the superhero, and eventually becomes the queen of Atlantis.
If Amber Heard agrees to star in âAquamanâ, âJustice Leagueâ, and, what we can only assume will be, further instalments to the DC universe, then she will primarily interact opposite Jason Momoa, who was confirmed as Aquaman last year and is expected to make his debut as the character in âBatman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice,â due out on March 26.
Heardâs expected debut as Mera in âJustice League: Part Oneâ will be alongside numerous other DC characters, including the likes The Flash, Shazam, Cyborg, and Green Lantern.
âJustice Leagueâ, which is being directed by âBatman V Supermanâ and âMan Of Steelâsâ Zack Snyder, is due to begin shooting in April 2016, while it will be released on November 17, 2017.
âAquamanâ will then follow on July 27, 2018, and while James Wan (âThe Conjuringâ, âFurious 7â˛) is already confirmed to direct, Warner Bros. are currently working on two separate scripts from David Leslie Johnson (âThe Conjuring 2â˛) and Kurt Johnstad (â300â˛) before they decide which to film.
