Amazon shoppers and 'Star Wars' fans love these lightsaber chopsticks — they're on sale for $9 a pair

Whether you’re eating sushi or digging into a bowl of pad thai, you’re probably using chopsticks. However, what if those chopsticks lit up and looked like lightsabers from Star Wars? Actually, there's no "what if?" about it: They're real, and, aptly enough, they're called Chopsabers. More than 14,000 Amazon reviewers have given them 5 out of 5 stars, and right now they're on sale.

Get this two-pack of red and blue light saber chopsticks if you want to play Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi at the table.

$18 at Amazon

Why is it a good deal?

Right now, you can get two pairs for 40% off on Amazon. That makes them $18, and that's a sweet deal, considering one pair will typically run you $11 – $12. If you're eating Solo, however, you can also save $1 on a single pair in green, red, orange and yellow. Other colors like pink and purple aren't on sale, but they're all priced under $15 regularly. And with Amazon Prime, you can order them now and get them via fee one-day shipping.

Why do I need these?

The Chop Sabers are made of BPA-free plastic and come in a range of bright colors with batteries already inside. All you have to do is click a button to light them up and click again to turn them off. They’re hand-wash-only but very easy to clean. And, just a heads-up: We're highlighting the two-pair pack, but if you're feeding a family of Star Wars fans, go ahead and score yourself a pack of three or four pairs.

You may know this already, but chopsticks have a long history in Chinese culture. According to History.com, they date back to as early as 1200 B.C. They were originally used as cooking tools. However, around A.D. 400, people started using them to eat. Food scarcity caused chefs to make smaller portions, which made knives obsolete. Not to mention, Confucius believed that sharp utensils reminded people of slaughter and violence, which literally killed the mood at the dinner table — alas, the rise of chopsticks for eating.

Not all chopsticks are wooden, though. Japan invented disposable bamboo ones in the late 1800s, but chopsticks’ shapes and materials vary across the Eastern Asian region.

Which takes us to our current galaxy far, far away. What makes Chopsabers excitingly different is that they light up and look like Star Wars lightsabers — and that’s why people love them. That, and the fact that for less than $10 you can make a loved one's face light up!

What reviewers say:

“These are honestly so cool,” wrote one happy customer who also shared a video of their purchase on Amazon. “They are a little big, but definitely not a problem! I love everything about these. They are also honestly great value, look and feel for the money!”

"Perfect nerdy gift!" gushed another reviewer. "Star Wars? Check! Usefulness? Check! Got my son to eat new things just so he could use these."

"Bought these as a gift for my friend who loves ramen and Star Wars. Perfect gift and I liked them so much that I use them sometimes too!" explained another satisfied shopper. "Simple to use and clean. Fun to play with! I find them a bit long and thick to use as chopsticks, but that might be a skill issue, seeing as the giftee uses them just fine."

You can get a single pair of chopsticks in your favorite color for yourself or gift them to your BJF (best Jedi forever).
