AMAZING Iron Man ‘Hulkbuster’ Suit Wows New York Comic Con
This has to be one of the greatest cosplay outfits of all time.
Pulling this behemoth out of his giant wardrobe for Comic Con in New York, movie fan and pro costume maker Thomas DePetrillo premiered his colossal Iron Man ‘Hulkbuster’ suit at the event yesterday.
Based on the armour worn by Robert Downey Jr in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron’, it took DePetrillo two years and 1,600 hours to make and stands at 9.5 feet tall.
It’s also 44 inches thick, 6.5 feet wide, weighs 95lbs and takes 20 minutes to get into.
The suit left comic book fans aghast as DePetrillo wandered the halls of the event at the Javits Center in Manhattan.
As well as its substantial size, its eyes also glow white and it shoots green lasers.
In the business for 19 years, DePetrillo said the suit was the 'single largest, most domineering thing’ he’s ever made.
“When I get into this suit, it’s going to make me feel alive in a way that very rarely you get to feel in real life,” he added.
“When I go to a place like New York Comic Con, for a brief window, for just a few days, I get to be a star too.
“Being able to make this a full time job is a dream career for me. Some of the most exciting experiences in my life have happened because I was in a costume.”
Pleasingly, it won him (pictured above, far left) the NYCC Eastern Championships of Cosplay prize, and a cheque for $1,500, which probably covered the cost of a leg.

DePetrillo joined a legion of other cosplayers pitching up for the event – some of them actual celebrities themselves.
Mark Ruffalo, who plays Hulk in the 'Avengers’ movies, donned a slightly disturbing rubber mask so he could wander the halls with his son Keen without being mobbed.
Jared Leto also pitched up, with an equally madcap baboon mask. Scary business.
