Aliff Aziz and Ruhainies pleaded not guilty in khalwat case
3 Jul - Both Aliff Aziz and Ruhainies have pleaded not guilty to charges in relation to their khalwat case.
The two actors, who were previously arrested by the Federal Territories Religious Department (JAWI) in March after being caught with each other in a luxury condominium, made the plead after the charges were read to them, respectively.
Both appeared at the Federal Territories Sharia High Court on 3 July with lawyers Hadi Salleh and Amirul Ashraf Ghani, following the mention on 20 June in the Sharia Lower Court.
The court set 12 October as the next date and the bail bond of RM 1,500 was extended until that date.
The charges against them are in accordance with Section 27(a) of the Syariah Criminal Offenses (Federal Territories) Act 1997 and Section 27(b) of the same act which carries a maximum fine of RM3,000 or imprisonment of not more than two years or both if convicted fault.
Prior to this, Aliff was involved in a divorce proceeding, which resulted in him and wife Bella Astillah being officially divorced after eight years of marriage.
