Alif Satar warns fans against fake news using AI

15 Nov - Alif Satar recently warned fans not to fall for the fake news running rampant on the Internet, after falling victim himself to such a thing recently.

On 13 November, the singer-actor shared a screenshot of a fake news article misusing news outlet The Star's logo that has the headline reading. "Alif Satar didn't know the microphone was on, we say goodbye to him forever. It's a sad day for all of the Malaysia".

The photos used for the headline has him in handcuffs and being escorted by the police, and another of him in a podcast.

"Hi, guys," Alif wrote. "I noticed recently that there are lots of fake news, including these images of me. AI is a really great thing, but there is also a chance that it can turn into defamation and impact our image negatively."

"So, if you see weird things about me online, or about your family, do your part to report it... Pray more, we're in the times of slander. Stay vigilant," he added.

Alif also suggested that the Malaysian META/Facebook team should restart a campaign to educate everyone about such an issue.
