Alien: Paradise Lost Eyes Rebecca Ferguson

It looks as though ‘Alien: Paradise Lost’ is gearing up already… as Rebecca Ferguson is linked to the female lead.

According to Deadline, the 31-year-old Swedish actress is being considered for a leading role in Ridley Scott’s upcoming ‘Prometheus’ sequel.

“She is eyeing the lead role in Guernsey with respected Brit director Mike Newell attached,” they said. “The actress is also in the mix for the Prometheus sequel that Ridley Scott, buoyed by his critical and commercial success with The Martian, is prepping at Fox to go into production in the latter half of next year.”

Of course, Ferguson recently turned heads alongside Tom Cruise in ‘Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation’… and with another MI sequel likely on the cards, it looks as though Ferguson is going to be in high demand.

“No concrete talks have been held about [Alien: Paradise Lost] yet but Deadline understands that the latest draft was delivered to Scott and Fox execs recently and it is, by all accounts, very strong with a peach of a major female role.”

Quite how Rebecca Ferguson would fit into the ‘Prometheus’ sequel remains to be seen… but with the earlier film leaving Noomi Rapace’s character setting off to find the Engineers and their home world (with the disembodied head of Michael Fassbender in tow) it’s going to be a very interesting sequel.

Unfortunately, little else is known about the movie… other than the fact that it’s likely going to be titled ‘Alien: Paradise Lost’ rather than ‘Prometheus 2’. And it sounds as though it will further cement the connection between ‘Prometheus’ and the ‘Alien’ franchise.

Will Rebecca Ferguson land the role? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

But she’s a rather excellent choice.

‘Alien: Paradise Lost’ heads to cinemas on 30 May 2017.
