Alexander Lee cast for talent and English proficiency

GMA Executive Lilybeth Rasonable explains why they cast the former U-KISS member in "My Korean Jagiya"

23 Aug - GMA Executive, Lilybeth Rasonable has nothing but praises for Alexander Lee, the Korean star who is part of the new Kapuso drama, "My Korean Jagiya".

As reported on PEP, Rasonable, who spoke to the media about the casting of Lee, shared, "Even though he is still young, and even though he was a U-KISS member, Xander is a really good actor."

She added that one of the advantage that Lee had over other stars who they auditioned is that he can understand and speak English proficiently.

"In fact, he speaks seven languages. Maybe eight now, [including] Filipino!," she added.

As to how they were able to get a Korean star in the first place, Rasonable shared, "We have a relationship with Korea for a long time now because we have partnerships in terms of training. So, we have acquaintances there who are coordinators, and people who are connected to television and film."

On the other hand, director Mark Reyes, who was involved in casting Lee personally, shared that aside from his talent and ability to speak English, the actor has the advantage of being a part of U-KISS, which is already famous in the Philippines.

"He's not only an actor, he's also an interpreter for us. Whenever there's a need for Korean language on the set, he will interpret it for us."
