Aimee Chan finally picks Chinese name for 3-month old son

20 Mar – Three months after the birth of her son Aiden, Aimee Chan revealed that she and husband Moses Chan have finally decided on the baby's Chinese name.

Mingpao reported that the actress was at an event with reporters when she wrote down Aiden's Chinese name, which spelled Chan Chi Yip (陳梓燁).

"I studied design and I want his name to look beautiful in Chinese characters. I don't want it to look common," said Aimee, who admitted that the whole family participated in finding the perfect name.

The "Outbound Love" actress revealed that the "Chi" is a type of building made of a special type of wood, and represents success, while "Yip" means magnificent and brilliant – a name which they have chosen in hopes that the boy's life will reflect it.

Aimee also disclosed that the whole family tested out different Chinese pronunciations and spent so much time in looking for the best name that they spent three months searching before settling for Chan Chi Yip.

When asked if she thought it would not be too hard on Aiden to spell his name, with so many strokes in the characters, Aimee light-heartedly replied, "He will be so well-behaved in the future, that his teachers will never get to punish him by rewriting his name repeatedly."
