Merrell’s Hydro Moc is getting a bit more wavy through a collaboration with Advisory Board Crystals.
The Advisory Board Crystals x Merrell 1TRL Hydro brings slight tweaks a marbled cream colorway to the hit foam clog. A robust “ABC”-branded strap has been added to the heel, complete with a unique magnetic buckle routinely used by Advisory Board Crystals and external padding that hosts a hologram to denote authenticity. Oversized pull tabs are also stitched onto the front and back of the opening, making the slip-on even easier to take on and off.
Since launching in 2021, the Hydro Moc has gained favor at the intersection of trends for outdoor gear, “dad shoes” and casual foam footwear. The clog utilizes Merrell’s 100-percent vegan, partial algae-based Bloom performance foam for comfort, and an abundance of holes over the foot equips it for water and general breathability. A fairly robust tread pattern also provides a good deal of traction, making the Hydro Moc feasible for jaunts around town or on the trails.
Merrell has released several configurations of the Hydro Moc, including turning the clog into a mule, winterizing it and reconfiguring the strapping.
Remington Guest and Heather Haber founded Advisory Board Crystals as a couple of 2015, with the name an inclination of its metaphysical leanings. The brand hasn’t had a major presence in the sneaker scene, but it did begin a partnership with Vans last year and dropped custom Nike Air Force 1s along with Slam Jam in 2018.
The Advisory Board Crystals x Merrell Hydro Moc will release Thursday, June 13, through Advisory Board Crystal’s website as part of its “The Sacred Mountain: 2” collection. Pricing for the foam clogs has not yet been announced.
