SINGAPORE — Veteran actor and theatre practitioner Adrian Pang will helm this year's National Day Parade Show segment.
The segment, titled The Story Of Us and consisting of five chapters, will tell the collective journey of Singaporeans over the last two years amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
It will involve more than 2,000 performers including students and community groups. The performance at The Float @ Marina Bay will be hosted by Joakim Gomez, Sonia Chew, Siti Khalijah and Rishi Budhrani and be telecast live.
“Navigating our way through the pandemic as a people, we have shared some meaningful experiences and learnt some important lessons," said Pang in a statement.
"I feel that the NDP is a good opportunity to reflect on these experiences and lessons communally, as a tribute to our Singapore spirit,” he added.
A film written by acclaimed filmmaker Ken Kwek will also be interwoven with the live performance.
The film, Connections, shows the interconnectivity among individuals, families and communities as they help each other tide over the pandemic.
Colonel Mikail Kalimuddin, who chairs the Show committee, said, "Just as the NDP 2022 Show would not have been possible without the collective effort of schools, community groups, and public agencies, Singapore’s strength during the pandemic would not have been possible without all Singaporeans playing a part.
"This year’s Show tells us that when it comes to dealing with challenges, we can do it because we have done it before, and Singaporeans should have every confidence for the journey ahead. Stronger Together, Majulah!"
