Time for a change of scenery, perhaps? Just as the summer rolls around, actress Jessica Chastain is putting her Manhattan apartment on the market, asking a cool $7.4 million.

The Zero Dark Thirty star has owned the apartment, located 205 West 57th Street, for some time, having reportedly purchased it for $5.1 million in 2015. It’s within walking distance of her old stomping grounds at Julliard, where she studied acting, and is also the former home of one of her favorite musicians, American composer Adam Guettel, according to Architectural Digest. Notably, however, the apartment was home to another maestro: composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein.

So it follows, then, that the building itself has quite a long history. Dubbed the Osborne, the property dates back to 1885, and was designed by architect James Edward Ware. The lobby maintains many of its original details even today, including marble, mosaics, and Tiffany glass windows—allegedly one of Louis Comfort Tiffany's first decorating projects.

Naturally, that sense of old New York style continues in the apartment, albeit with a bit of contemporary flair. The 3,200-square-foot unit, which has four beds and four baths, was recently renovated by design firm Carrier and Company. Noteworthy details include mahogany paneling, Tiffany glass bay windows in the living room, plaster crown moldings, and five wood-burning fireplaces. Ralph Lauren fabrics adorn some of the walls—an obvious connection, it seems, as Chastain recently attended the brand's fall/winter show in New York.

Where's the Academy Award-winning actress off to next? She and her husband, Moncler executive Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, purchased an Upper West Side townhouse for about $9 million in 2019, so it's possible the couple and their two children are spending more time there. Their old midtown digs, meanwhile, are listed with Cathy Taub and Ellen Kapit of Sotheby's International Realty.
