"Abang Adik" goes to Fribourg Film Fest

6 Mar – The Angelica Lee-produced Malaysian movie, "Abang Adik" has been shortlisted for the 37th Fribourg International Film Festival (also known as FIFF).

As reported on Oriental Daily, speaking about the movie, which will be part of the main competition, director Jin Ong stated, "Although I have been to many film festivals with "Shuttle Life" in 2017, this is the first time for me as a director. I am excited and looking forward to meeting everyone."

"I don't know how people will react to the finished product, it's unbelievable to me, and I am a bit nervous," he added.

Jin will travel to Switzerland on 21 March to participate in the exchange.

The movie is the first debut for Angelica Lee as a producer. After learning of the news, she posted, "This is good news for "Abang Adik". Thank you to everybody who worked hard both in front and behind the camera."

The movie stars Wu Kangren and Jack Tan as two undocumented orphans living in present-day Malaysia. While the older brother, a deaf mute, has resigned himself to a life of poverty, his younger sibling burns with indignation.

The FIFF will be running from 17 to 26 March.
