Aaron Kwok happy for "Port of Call" Oscar bet

25 Sep - Hong Kong superstar Aaron Kwok is excited upon being informed that his movie, "Port of Call", has been chosen as Hong Kong's representative film at the Oscars.

As reported on Mingpao News, the actor, who won multiple awards for his role in the crime thriller, stated, "I am honoured that the movie has been selected. [This isn't just about the stars], it's the result of the whole team's hard work."

Aaron also stressed that "Port of Call" is a pure Hong Kong movie through and through, and that it is one of the best choices to represent Hong Kong and the social situation of the territory.

Meanwhile, "Port of Call" director Philip Yung stated that the success of the movie depended on the full cooperation of everybody both in front and behind the scene.

The movie was selected to represent Hong Kong at the Best Foreign language Film category at the 89th Academy Awards after it defeated other strong contenders including "Heaven in the Dark, "Weeds on Fire", "The Mermaid" and "Call of Heroes".

Last year, it was Dante Lam's "To the Fore" that was submitted as Hong Kong's representative film.
