“90 Day Fiancé”: Rob Is Blindsided by Sophie's No-Kid Revelation and Ashley Shuns Manuel from Her 'Spiritual Space'

Manuel's family in NYC won't stop calling, and Ashley thinks she'd be a "fool not to think" he may be with her for a green card on Sunday's episode of '90 Day Fiancé'

The 90 Day Fiancé season 10 couples are struggling with intimacy.

A common theme on Sunday night’s episode was a lack of closeness — all of which was frustration-inducing for the Americans. Absent sex, miscommunication about kids, and even couple’s meditation were leading topics that made tension palpable through the screen.

Questions rose for the Americans, who are hosting their partners on the K-1 visa. For Nikki, who was still in Moldova feeling out her love before taking the K-1 jump, the question remains: is Justin willing to engage in sex with a transgender woman? For Ashley, the question was why her phone kept ringing… and how Manuel’s family members in America got her phone number.

Here’s what fans missed on Sunday night.

Jasmine and Gino

Jasmine and Gino discuss their grievances about each other's money habits.

Jasmine and Gino are both holding grudges. Unlike past arguments, though, the pair sat down to discuss their frustrations rationally. For Jasmine, it was that Gino quit his job without consulting her. For Gino, it was that Jasmine spent $10,000 on butt implants without consulting him.

Gino questioned if his life with Jasmine is sustainable because of her routine spending. She addressed this in a moment of honesty. “If you told me this, like you quit your job, that we were under a very tight budget when I was in Panama instead of waiting until I arrive here, I promised I would never spend this money,” she insisted.

“But that's the thing I did, thinking to myself that you were working, that we were okay, that I will have time to replace the money," she added. "I mean, I regret having the surgery. I do, but I cannot like [say], 'Okay, doctor, take out the implants and give me the money.'"

Gino appreciated Jasmine’s honesty, though he didn’t know she was hiding something bigger. “One of the things that I feel the most guilty about is me accepting $2,000 from my ex Dane as a loan that then became a gift to get my butt implant," Jasmine told cameras. "Gino doesn't like Dane, doesn't trust on him, doesn't want him close to me as a friend or anything." She admitted she’s strategizing the best time to break the news — and Sunday’s episode was not the time.

Jasmine also told Gino her decision to get any surgeries came from her wish to look beautiful. She cited her alopecia as a reason she’s spent thousands on hair extensions and wigs. “I wanted to look so pretty for you, baby. Like, I work so hard at the gym. I'm eating healthy all the time, you know. But the reflection that I see in the mirror doesn't match, you know, the reality,” she explained. “Like, I don't see myself like a pretty woman. I'm highly insecure. And I was so scared, like, now that I got so skinny and I lost my ass, you wouldn't love me.”

When it was Jasmine’s time to explore her frustrations, much of her anger centered around Gino’s job, or lack thereof, and his elective decision to lose the income. He was expected to sponsor her children when they move to America — but Gino can’t do that without an income. “It needs to be Gino because the only income that we were going to have was his job, but now that is gone because he thought that it was going to be a good idea just to spend time with me,” she said.

At the end of the day, Jasmine and Gino seemed to resolve their tension without explosion. “At least she apologized because honestly, she doesn't apologize to me very often,” Gino told cameras. “To be honest, she's being honest with me and it gives me hope that maybe she's not going to lie to me anymore.”

Rob and Sophie

Perhaps the biggest shock on Sunday night’s episode was Sophie and Rob’s disagreement on children. While out to dinner with his sister Victoria, Rob said the couple was planning on having kids. However, Sophie chimed in that she doesn’t picture herself ever being pregnant. This set Rob off, and he left the table in anger shortly after.

“Sophie just rocked my entire belief in her and what we can have,” he told cameras. “What's the next thing that you're going to tell me that you really don't want or you really don't care about? I don't want it to just be me and Sophie forever. Like, I really saw there being more to that. I really put my heart into that.”

For Sophie, the reason was much deeper. She recounted a life-saving surgery she had when she was a teenager. In the process, she was told she may have damaged eggs. “So since then, it's like, would I rather, you know, be like, oh, yeah, like I'm going to be a mom one day and then be told actually you can't have kids because that's devastating,” she told Rob’s sister. “For me, it was easier to just be like, you know, actually I might not even want to be pregnant.”

It seemed Rob didn't know the intention behind Sophie’s answer — and his response was overshadowed by emotion. “I don't know what Sophie saw us doing with our later years. Like, all right, we want a grind, we want a gold chase right now. And then what? Even Jay-Z and Beyoncé got kids,” he told cameras.

Eventually, Rob confronted Sophie. “I feel like you done hit me over the head with this s— like, and then you're trying to act like you have no idea that I would want kids,” he said.

To cameras, Sophie was confused about where they go from here. “It seems like he hates me, and it's crazy how something like that can just go so sideways. I said one thing and he's looking at me like he's ready to walk away and leave,” she said. “I've never seen him look at me like that before. It's a very upsetting situation and I don't really know how we're supposed to, I guess, make up from this.”

Nikki and Justin

Justin and Nikki have different preferences on their sex life.

It was all about sex and glamour for Nikki and Justin… or, a wish for less on Justin’s end. The episode showed Nikki’s morning routine — which, according to Justin, consists of two hours of makeup. He told Nikki he likes when she “looks more natural.” In jest, he told her what could happen if there’s too much makeup on her skin. “Here in our country when you have a lot of makeup, those birds very like you,” he said. “They sit on you.”

Nikki wasn’t having it. “You want no makeup? You want natural? Go date a Russian girl. You know, from the very beginning, 17 years ago, I wore makeup and I still wear makeup. And that's never going to change,” she said. “So why are you asking? Why are you telling me this?”

To cameras, she further discussed her frustration. “It's like he wants to mold me or to conform me into this person that I'm not. Justin changed his whole character when he found out that I was trans. Like, literally changed to someone very macho, like trying to make me submissive, It makes me upset.”

That was just the beginning of Nikki’s irritations. The biggest thing on her mind was sex — and a total lack of it. “Being intimate is a very big part of making our relationship work too. And sometimes I just feel like he doesn't even try. If you're truly in love with somebody, you prove your love,” she told cameras. “You make love to the person that's just always been forever. That it makes me feel rejected. And that's a problem for me. And this is why I'm here.”

Nikki wasn't getting anything from Justin when it came to intimacy — something that changed after he learned she’s transgender. She questioned him about his intentions. “Would you rather play chess than make love? Does that excite you more? I don't think you really appreciate a beautiful, gorgeous woman being with you,” she said. “I haven't seen you in nine months. Like, you act like you have another woman.”

Justin denied seeing anyone else. But he countered if they’re arguing, his sex drive is nonexistent. “Our relationship [is] built not on the physical,” he said. “It's more like soul, like heart, like different vibes. When we're talking about the physically, I need a little time [when you’re] nice. Then I feel the man energy coming up, looking ‘who is that woman there?’”

It’s wasn’t enough for Nikki, who was putting a timeline on their next sexual encounter. “But literally, you have within 48 hours to change my mind or I'm literally leaving. And that's the last time you're ever going to see me,” she promised.

Ashley and Manuel

Ashley fears Manuel may be using her for a green card.

Ashley and Manuel’s routines weren't aligning just yet. Her witchcraft practices set off the fire alarm, to a very irritated Manuel. But Ashley was already angry at his recent behaviors. Lately, her phone has been blowing up with calls from Manuel’s family that live in New York. She’s never met them, and is wondering whether their constant contact is a red flag that he’s going to run.

With the K-1 visa under his belt, Manuel is in America for good. And Ashley isn’t confident that he will always be with her. Their latest blowout argument came when Manuel stressed the urgency of getting a phone with Internet. Until then, it seemed Ashley’s phone was his family’s point of contact.

The urgency of the request rubbed Ashley the wrong way. In a conversation with her sister, she spoke aloud her biggest fears. “I’d be a fool to not think about the fact that Manuel might be coming here on my back so he could meet up with his family and leave me,” she said. “He has family in New York City. He has family in Newark.”

She added, “I truly believe he loves me. But I also believe that if things don't work out and if we don't get married, he has no intention of going back to Ecuador.”

Ashley wasn’t confident Manuel wouldn't take off. She noted how easy it would be for him to hop a bus to NYC, where his family may be waiting for him with open arms.

Devin and Nick are hoping to get his parents' approval to wed in America.

New couple alert! Sunday night’s episode introduced viewers to Nick and Devin — a young couple who met when they were both spending time in Australia. Now engaged, and intent on getting the K-1 visa, American Devin is visiting Nick in Korea. The goal? Win his parent’s approval of their relationship, and his big move to the U.S.

“If Devin blows this up, my family won't let me go to U.S. and it's going to destroy my whole life,” Nick told cameras.

He also divulged his favorite thing about Devin. “What I love about Devin is she's friendly, she's cute, She's the first white girl I've dated. Asian girls, I would say, they are too skinny,” he said. “I prefer Devin. She used to be a soccer player and it’s so much fun to spend time with her.”

Because of her “chubby” nature, Nick has coined her “piggy.”

“Devin calls me Monkey and I call her Piggy because she's cute and a little chubby,” he explained. “Speaking English, I thought Chubby is kind of a little fat, but I realized that Chubby is kind of quite fat. I feel kind of bad, but it’s just saying Devin is cute.”

Devin later told cameras she’s tried to communicate it’s not a kind nickname in America, but the joke remains. “I think at this point I'm not really offended by it anymore, but in America it'd be considered extremely rude to, like, call someone a piggy,” she said.
