Yet another food trend has rocked the global bakery scene. You’ve probably seen TikToks and Instagram posts about circular croissants stuffed with a bevy of delectable fillings. Circular croissants were popularised by Lafayette Bakery in New York, with the invention quickly becoming viral in the United States.
Thankfully, everyone living in Singapore can also get a taste of the viral circular croissants, as many local bakeries have adapted the popular creation, with some even putting unique Singaporean twists on them.
With a host of different names, like croon, croll, swirl and more, here are 8 places in Singapore to enjoy the viral stuffed circular croissants.
1. Swish Rolls
Swish Rolls, located at Cluny Court near Botanic Gardens MRT, was one of the first local bakeries to adapt the circular croissant in Singapore. The circular croissants, named Croons, are available in five different flavours, including sweet and savoury options.
Plain croissant purists can opt for the Crackly Sea Salt Butter Croon (S$3), a crispy and buttery round croissant that comes without fillings. If you’re looking for something a little more savoury, the Ham N’ Cheeze Croon (S$5.80), filled with turkey ham, gruyere béchamel sauce, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, is a delicious and cheesy option to start your day.
I was especially impressed by the sweet stuffed croons, priced at S$5.80 each. The Deep Dark Valrhona Chocolate Croon was stuffed to the brim with a rich and luscious chocolate filling. The Loaded Pistachio Croon and Super Summer Berries Croon were similarly filled generously, though I did find them a tad too sweet.
To avoid disappointment, you can pre-order Swish Rolls’ Croons on their website before picking them up at their store.
2. La Levain
La Levain, located along Hamilton Road, is an artisanal bakery known for its high quality bakes and innovative flavours. Their take on the circular croissants, named La LeBombz, are made in limited quantities with just two batches being made each day.
The La LeBombz are available in both sweet and savoury varieties. Satisfy your sweet tooth with flavours like Nutella (S$6.50), Passionfruit and Mango (S$6.20), Raspberry (S$6.20), Bobochacha (S$6.80) and Yuzu Matcha (S$8). Alternatively, dig into their savoury options, like Truffle Cream Cheese (S$8.20), Mentaiko Garlic Cheese (S$8.50), Parma Ham and Emmental Cheese (S$9.50) and Mushroom and Camembert Cheese (S$7.20).
Each La LeBombz that I tried was crispy and buttery, even after being left out to sit. The Yuzu Matcha La LeBombz, filled with Yuzu Namaraka cream and topped with uji matcha ganache, combined tangy and earthy flavours from the two elements, while the Truffle Cream Cheese La LeBombz had an evident truffle aroma and a smooth cream cheese filling.
Of course, the classic Nutella La LeBombz was a classic yet delightful creation. La Levain even plans on releasing new flavours in the future, so keep your eyes peeled!
3. Nuage Patisserie & Boulangerie
Nuage Patisserie & Boulangerie is a quaint bakery cafe located along Kampong Bahru Road. Look forward to enjoying five different circular croissant flavours here, affectionately named Pom Poms.
Choose classic flavours like the Chocolate Pom Pom (S$6.50) and Black Forest Pom Pom (S$7.20), or opt for the Asian-inspired Matcha Azuki Pom Pom (S$6.90) and Sesame Mochi Pom Pom (S$6.80). Finally, the Raspberry Pistachio Pom Pom (S$6.80) offers a unique combination of flavours, being filled with tangy raspberry and nutty pistachio.
The Chocolate Pom Pom had a crisp and delightful texture, and I was impressed at the generosity of the chocolate cream. The chocolate was rich with a smooth mouthfeel. It was sweet and slightly milky, but still delivered a strong and decadent cocoa flavour.
The Matcha Azuki Pom Pom had a similar texture to that of the Chocolate Pom Pom. The matcha cream was earthy and sweet with floral notes, while the red beans were soft, mushy and natural.
4. Yeast Side
Yeast Side is a bakery and cafe that offers circular croissants on the weekends. Their circular croissants, named Swirls, are available in five flavours at their outlet along 2 Perumal Road.
The Almond Swirl (S$8.60), filled with rum almond cream and topped with almond flakes and icing sugar, was sweet with a nice almond fragrance. The Lemon Yuzu Meringue Swirl (S$10.70) was my favourite, as it was filled with a tangy lemon yuzu curd and topped with torched meringue and lime zest.
Black sesame fans can opt for the Kuro Goma Swirl (S$8.60), which comes with black sesame tofu custard filling and topped with crunchy crumble and sesame mochi. The Vanilla Pistachio Swirl (S$10.70), on the other hand, is a nutty treat that is filled with vanilla pistachio custard and topped with crushed pistachio and dried rose petals.
Finally, if you’re a lover of alcohol, the Blackforest Swirl (S$10.70), filled with chantilly cream, wine-soaked cherries and kirsch and drizzled with dark chocolate ganache, had a strong alcohol taste that permeated throughout the entire croissant.
5. Windowsill Pies
Despite its name, Windowsill Pies doesn’t just sell pies. The popular bakery has introduced circular croissants to their menu too, available in five different flavours. If you like fruity flavours, go for the tangy Lemon Strawberry Croon. Nuttier flavours would be the Crunchy Pistachio Creme Croon and Roasted Sesame Croon.
Chocolate lovers can opt for the Rocher (Hazelnut Dark Chocolate) Croon, while the Pandan Custard Croon may cater to fans of local-inspired flavours.
A box of all five Croons costs S$38, and can be ordered via direct message on Windowsill Pies’ social media accounts.
6. Bakery Brera
Bakery Brera, located at 8 Empress Road, is one of Singapore’s most well-known artisanal bakeries. Naturally, they’ve also hopped on board the circular croissant trend, introducing three unique Croons to their roster of bakes.
The Croons, priced at S$7.50 each, are only available on weekends, and come in the flavours of Bacon Avocado Cream, Salted Egg Yolk Custard and Citrus Milky Snow (Lemon).
The Salted Egg Yolk Custard Croon stood out the most to me as it combined the French croissant with the Asian ingredient, salted egg, producing an interesting savoury and umami experience. The Citrus Milky Snow Croon, on the other hand, was zesty and sweet, and topped with a candied lemon for some extra crunch.
The Muslim-owned bakery, GAMO, has seen a growth in popularity ever since they opened on the first floor of Bras Basah Complex in September 2022. The Japanese and French-inspired bakery offers circular croissants on the weekends.
GAMO’s circular croissants are named Crools, and when I visited the bakery on a Saturday afternoon, two flavours were available, priced at S$8 each: the Strawberry Crool and the Chocolate Crool.
The filling in the Strawberry Crool was milky with a natural strawberry taste. I enjoyed how it was not artificial-tasting or too sweet. The Chocolate Crool, on the other hand, had a rich and deep cocoa taste. Though the Crools weren’t filled as generously as other bakeries, I found the quality of the fillings to be on the higher end.

8. Keong Saik Bakery
The famous Keong Saik Bakery‘s take on the circular croissant trend is slightly different from most other bakeries. Keong Saik Bakery’s Crolls are bite-sized and come in seven different flavours.
Enjoy flavours like Pistachio Praline, Cacio e Pepe and Genmaicha. They even have local-inspired flavours like Milo and Kaya Lychee! Additionally, the Keong Saik Road outlet offers the exclusive flavours of Black Sesame and Margherita.
A box of four Crolls costs S$14, of which you can mix and match four flavours of your choice. The boxes can be pre-ordered on Keong Saik Bakery’s website for pick-up and delivery.
