The 79 Best Beauty Looks From New York Fashion Week Fall 2024

Designers may get most of the attention during New York Fashion Week, but the makeup artists, hairstylists and nail techs are also toiling away behind the scenes help bring creative directors' visions to life on the runways. Whether it was subtle frosty glam at Ulla Johnson or gilded center parts at Christian Siriano, the beauty looks we spotted at the Fall 2024 shows weren't just garnishes to the collections — they were inspiring, memorable and trend-setting all in their own right.

The season's must-see hair moments included Retrofête's bouncy '90s blowouts, Thom Browne's gravity-defying braids and Sandy Liang's blunt bobs. Hairstylists like Lacy Redway (for TreSemmé) and Evanie Frausto (for Bumble and Bumble) got creative with an anything-but-actual-hair-accessories approach, turning to pencils, gold leaf and disembodied hair to adorn the looks they dreamed up for LaQuan Smith, Christian Siriano and Collina Strada, respectively.

One standout makeup trend from the New York shows this season was a statement lip: LaQuan Smith, Fforme, Carolina Herrera, Dauphinette and Thom Browne each featured a riff on classic red, tailored to each designer's unique aesthetic. Anna Sui tapped Pat McGrath to capture the glamor of 1930s London nightclubs through sultry smokey eyes and moody oxblood lips, while Luar turned heads with glittering gilded eyelashes created by makeup artist Raoul Alejandre (for MAC). Makeup also took a more playful turn at shows like Bach Mai and Carolina Herrera, which each incorporated vibrant multi-colored eye shadow.

The season's most memorable nail looks skewed maximalist and artistic: Luar's models wore intricate, picture frame-inspired gold talons, while PatBo's sported French tips and LaPointe's donned metallic press-ons.
