6 movies to look out for at this year’s Anime Film Festival

The Anime Film Festival taking place from 20 to 26 February at Golden Village City Square will feature six anime films suited for various ages.

Kizumonogatari III: Reiketsu-hen (M18/VIOLENCE AND GORE)

Duration: 82 min

Based on a novel by Japanese manga writer Nisio Isin, this film is the final instalment of the vampire trilogy. The first and second parts of the series are called Kizumonogatari I: Tekketsu-hen and Kizumonogatari I: Nekketsu-hen respectively. In this film, high school student Koyomi hopes to restore his humanity after becoming a vampire in the first film. He can only do so by returning the cut-off limbs of the vampire who made him.

The Moment You Fall in Love (Suki ni Naru Sono Shunkan o: Jikko Linkai) (RATING: TBA)

Duration: 65 min

How far would you go to pursue your love interest? In this youth romance film, Hina falls in love with her senior Koyuki and becomes determined to enter the same high school as him. She even goes to the extent of changing her image.

Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale (RATING: TBA)

Duration: 120 min

An augmented-reality game called “Ordinal Scale” gains widespread popularity in the year 2026. But strange things are happening in the game, causing players to face certain danger.

Genocidal Organ (RATING: TBA)

Duration: 120 min

Based on a novel by a Japanese science-fiction writer known as Project Itoh, the political science fiction film recounts the aftermath of a nuclear attack on Sarajevo, causing democratic countries to become surveillance states and genocides to take place in developing countries. Amid this backdrop, an intelligence agent known as Clavis Shepherd emerges to track a man he believes is responsible for the global tragedies.

One Piece Film Gold (RATING: PG)

Duration: 120 min

One Piece’s popular group of Straw Hat Pirates sets off to another adventure, this time to Gran Tesoro, a fictional country that’s infamous for being the place of entertainment of well-known pirates, marines and millionaires. The group plans to confront the ruler, who seems to have an evil agenda that might cause major changes in power relationships.

Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions (RATING: PG)

Duration: 130 min

Released in Japan in 2016, this animated film has a plot set six months after the events that took place in the original manga series. The series is part of a franchise that has been around for 20 years.

Available via Golden Village, tickets are priced at $13 for shows from Monday to Thursday and $15 for shows from Friday to Sunday.
