6 of the most famous dragons in TV & movie history
Among the countless cryptids and mythological beasts we have had in recorded history, the most widespread is the dragon, appearing in cultures across the globe, from China to South America.
Even though we’re still not quite sure if it’s a prehistoric creature or a mere figment of fiction, this gargantuan beast has still fascinated us for eons in societies all around the world.
In some stories, dragons are ferocious, antagonistic creatures, capable of breathing fire and destroying entire towns in a single strike. In other tales, dragons are strong, loyal friends who live peacefully alongside their chosen human companions.
One such tale of a friendship between man and dragon is that within the movie “Pete’s Dragon”, which premiered in cinemas recently. As a remake of the original 1977 musical film, “Pete’s Dragon” depicts the heartwarming friendship between 10-year-old orphan Pete and his giant, furry dragon, Elliot.
The original film portrayed Elliot as a goofy cartoon character animated alongside a live action cast (unlike the current remake), but it heralded one of the most famous and loveable dragons in movie history.
