The 6 Biggest Fall 2024 Trends From London Fashion Week

The designers showing at London Fashion Week are always a few steps ahead of the rest of us. Any given season, we see trends on the runway that may not take off right away, but, give it a few months, even years, and they'll be inescapable.

There's something about the environment in London that breeds innovation. The excitement is largely driven by emerging talent and students, their collections innovating and challenging our understanding of fashion. So, even if you're not fully sold right now on something you see on the runway, you can trust that it'll come back even stronger. (Hello, Simone Rocha has been blowing the coquette horn for years now.)

Ahead, we're breaking down some of the biggest trends to come out of the Fall 2024 collections unveiled at London Fashion Week — including some you can start incorporating into your wardrobe right now.

Dusty Rose

How appropriate that the pink hue seen across Fall 2024 collections at London Fashion Week is a dusty rose, reminiscent of an English rose. It skewed darker at Emilia Wickstead and Erdem, lighter at Simone Rocha and JW Anderson — but, overall, it gave devotees of the coquette trend a little reassurance that their favorite color will continue to dominate through fall.

Comically Big Shoulders

Designers are always playing with proportion, whether it's to achieve balance or to accentuate certain features. In London, brands took the latter to a comical level with shoulder, which protrude upwards and outwards in the Fall 2024 collections of Edward Crutchley, Natasha Zinko and more. No amount of shoulder presses can get you this look.

Stretched-Out Knits

Knitwear is a given in autumnal collections, but that doesn't mean designers treat it as such — instead, they see it as an opportunity to play with something familiar and push it forward. For Fall 2024, that meant breaking them down and distressing them for a stretched-out, netted effect.

Lime Green

Pantone's Fall 2024 Color Trend Report for London Fashion Week had us on the lookout for food-inspired hues on the runways — the one that caught our eye, though, actually didn't make the cut: Spotted at Roksanda, Emilia Wickstead, Ahluwalia and more, lime green is used as both an accent against darker colors or head-to-toe for a big, bright statement amid the quieter autumnal palette.

Oversized Lapels

In addition to supersizing shoulders, designers in the U.K. like Erdem, Horzweiler and Tolu Coker are also supersizing the lapels on jackets, coats and shirts for Fall 2024.

Moulded Waists

Jonathan Anderson at JW Anderson, Simone Rocha and Richard Quinn snatched and moulded the waists of dresses, jackets and gowns — not in a restrictive way, but to draw a more dramatic curve in the silhouette.
