5 things about the new Korean romantic series Call It Love

Disney+ announced on Friday (13 January) that a new Korean romantic series Call It Love will be available exclusively on its platform.
Here’s what you need to know about this latest K-drama by Disney+.
1. It is coming to Disney+ on 22 February.
With a total 16 episodes, Call It Love will start streaming on Disney+ from 22 February. The series is directed by Lee Kwang-young, who previously directed Park Eun-bin’s Judge vs. Judge (2017).
2. Lee Sung-kyung is the mistreated Sim Woo-joo.
Call It Love follows the story of Sim Woo-joo (Lee Sung-kyung), who is sent into a downward spiral after discovering her father’s infidelity. Her situation goes from bad to worse when her father unexpectedly dies and his mistress kicks her out of the house.
Lee Sung-kyung is known for her roles in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo (2016) with Nam Joo-hyuk; in Dr. Romantic 2 (2020) with Ahn Hyo-seop; and more recently in Shooting Stars (2022) with Kim Young-dae.
3. Kim Young-kwang plays a lonely CEO Han Dong-jin.
While Woo-joo plans her revenge, she approaches Han Dong-jin (Kim Young-kwang), the son of the woman who ruined her life. As she gets to know him, she realises that she has fallen in love with him.
On the other hand, Dong-jin is a lonely workaholic. His life changes after meeting Woo-joo.
Call It Love marks the second time Kim Young-kwang has worked with Director Lee, after The Secret Life Of My Secretary (2019).
4. It also stars Sung Joon, Ahn Hee-yeon, and Kim Ye-won.
This series also sees the performances of these actors: Sung Joon (Island, 2022) portrays Woo-joo’s friend; Ahn Hee-yeon (Hit The Spot, 2022) plays Dong-Jin’s ex-girlfriend; and Kim Ye-won (You Are My Spring, 2021) plays Woo-joo’s sister.
5. It is one of the Hallyu hits currently available on Disney+.
In the past two years, Disney+ has been releasing a number of Korean dramas to capture more audiences. Call It Love is the latest drama to join the ranks of Big Mouth (2022), Soundtrack #1 (2022), and Snowdrop (2021).
