A total of 34 local food establishments have been awarded the Bib Gourmand by the inaugural Michelin Guide Singapore.

On Thursday (14 July), the annual guide of restaurants around the world unveiled a total of 14 restaurants, 17 hawker stalls and three “street food” establishments as the first Singapore winners of the Bib Gourmand award.

The eateries were picked for offering “authentic cuisine that was carefully prepared and inexpensively priced”, according to the guide. The maximum price offered by selected restaurants is S$45.

“With some firm favourites selected by our inspectors for their good value for money, we are particularly pleased to present a preview of the Bib Gourmand establishments included in the 2016 Michelin Guide Singapore,” said Michelin Guides’ international director Michael Ellis.

According to Michelin Guide Singapore, the distinction was awarded to quality restaurants that offered an affordably priced, three-course meal made up of a starter, main course and dessert.

Some of the local restaurants awarded include popular nasi padang establishment Hjh Maimunah, 328 Katong Laksa and Peranakan food restaurant True Blue Cuisine.
