19 Beauty Editors Share the Beauty Product They Never Travel Without

Welcome to Travel Week! Fashion people are always on the move, and the industry has been venturing into tourism and hospitality more than ever. So with summer-getaway season in full swing, we’re bringing you five days of expert-led product recommendations, outfit ideas, wellness tips, packing advice and more. We hope you stay a while.

Beauty editors may first and foremost count hair, skin, makeup and fragrance among their areas of expertise — but they could also easily add travel to that list. Jetsetting around the globe is a big part of many editors' routines, whether they're going on back-to-back, far-flung press trips or the occasional personal vacation. So of course, they have some opinions about what they consider must-pack items they'd never get on a plane without.

Ahead, 19 beauty editors share the beauty products they always bring with them when they travel, from splurge-y hair accessories and undereye masks to accessibly priced hand sanitizers and makeup wipes.

111Skin Cryo De-Puffing Eye Mask, $110 for 8, available here: "Even if I manage to sleep on a long-haul flight, I always land with dark circles and super puffy eyes. So, I keep a stash of 111Skin's (TSA-friendly!) cryotherapy-inspired eye masks in my bag. I pop them on when the flight attendant announces the plane is making its initial descent, and by the time we've hit the ground, my undereye area looks plump and refreshed. They also come in clutch after I've arrived at my final destination — my face often needs some help the morning after late night dinners and drinks while on vacation or traveling for work." —Erin Lukas, Deputy Beauty Editor, The Zoe Report

Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer, $36, available here: "My dark eye circles are the first to appear when traveling; they're like the people who line up for the plane before boarding even starts. I started using this concealer after makeup artist Soo Park used it on me — I take a fluffy eyeshadow brush to buff it into my dark under-eye crescents so it goes on extra seamlessly, and it looks radiant and bright (without appearing cake-y) from morning to night." —Kathleen Hou, Beauty Director, Elle

Chanel Les Beiges Illuminating Oil, $63, available here: "When I travel, I love to be oiled up. There are two beauty products I layer to give me the most profound glistening skin: Chanel Illuminating Oil to moisturize and give a subtle sparkle, and Vacation SPF 30 Baby Oil on top to add even more luminosity and protection from the sun. It's also a major moment of nostalgia for being lathered in baby oil as a kid, which I love." —Asia Milia Ware, Beauty and Fashion Writer, New York Magazine's The Cut

Touchland Hand Sanitizer, $10, available here: "Touchland Hand Sanitizer — in any scent! I won't board a plane, train or automobile without it!" —Sarah Kinonen, Associate Beauty Director, Allure

Aquis Flip Hair-Drying Towel, $50, available here: "I'm very lazy about my hair. And this towel — which doesn't take up much space or add any weight to my luggage — means I can continue being lazy on the go. Especially when traveling, I'd much rather get out there and see a new place than spend time dealing with a bad-quality hotel-room hair dryer. The towel (okay, and my twice-a-year keratin treatments) make it possible to air-dry and go and look at least somewhat sane." —Sara Spruch-Feiner, Senior Reporter, Glossy Pop

Yes To Cucumbers Calming Facial Wipes, $6, available here"It's not sexy, but along with my toothbrush and mini toothpaste, I always pack makeup-removing wipes in my carry-on. Just the thought of staining guest towels with my residual foundation and mascara makes me anxious; these are great because they remove makeup in one swipe, without stinging my skin or sensitive eyes, and smell faintly of spa water. I'll rinse my face before and after, so the towelette sudses up a little and acts as a perfectly effective stand in for my at-home cleanser." —Megan Decker, Beauty Editor, Refinery29

Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Retinol Hydra-Gel Eye Patches, $65, available here"I recently brought the new Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Retinol Hydra-Gel Eye Patches with me on a trip where I knew I'd be on a plane for several hours and be pretty tired by the time I got to my destination. They definitely came in handy because they come in a smaller container that's easy to pack, it doesn’t break any liquids rules and you only have to wear the patches for about 10 to 15 minutes." —Danielle Jackson, Beauty Editor, Women's Health

Nars Light Reflecting Undereye Brightener, $34, available here: "My eyes get puffy and fatigued-looking when I travel, and this little pot has become my secret weapon for looking bright-eyed and awake, no matter where in the world I am. I use shade 'Golden Eye' and pat it into my undereyes for an instant brightening, blurring effect. Plus, it doubles as a light-reflective highlighter and skin-smoother." —Faith Xue, Executive Beauty Director, BDG

Jennifer Behr Velvet Bow Barrette, $128, available here"On a recent trip to Italy, I threw a black velvet bow on a scrunchie into my bag at the last minute — it literally saved my look on several nights, whether my hair was wavy or a completely tangled, curly mess. You can get one at Walmart or Amazon, or splurge with Jennifer Behr." —Gwen Flamberg, Executive Editor of Beauty and Style, Us Weekly

Ries Beauty Travel Bottles The Best Sellers Set of 5, $70, available here: "Ries Beauty travel bottles are, in every single way, that girl. Most travel bottles are unwieldy, impossible to fill or just ugly to look at — but not these. As someone who Frankensteins her travel beauty and tries to condense as much as possible, these nifty refillable and dishwasher-safe bottles that come pre-labeled make it so I can marry two products in one, all while I'm rushing out the door." —Amanda Mitchell, Senior Beauty Writer and Stories Creator, Refinery29

Amouage Secret Garden Discovery Set, $55, available here: "If I'm traveling to a new place, I love bringing a fragrance discovery set. It allows me to try a new scent for each day I'm away. At the end of the trip, I'll pick my favorite scent from the set and wear it whenever I want to be reminded of my travels. If I'm heading somewhere I've been before, I'll bring the fragrance that reminds me of the city or country from the last time I was there. Recently, I traveled to the French Riviera and I brought the Amouage Secret Garden Discovery Set with me. It's divine!" —Deena Campbell, Beauty Director, Marie Claire

Colorescience Sunforgettable Powder Sunscreen, $69, available here: "In fairness, there are trips where I'll pack what feels like 438 sunscreens, but the one I never travel without — no matter if I'm going on a beach vacation or ski trip — is the Colorescience Sunforgettable Powder Sunscreen. TSA won't take it because it's in powder form, and the brush-on applicator makes it perfect for touch-ups." —Kelsey Castañon, Content Director, Popsugar Beauty

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel Pads, $92 for 30, available here"These peel wipes keep my skin in check thanks to the lactic and malic acid that evens out texture and gently exfoliates. They're also super easy to pack." —Audrey Noble, Beauty Editor, InStyle

Loops Variety Face Mask Set, $30, available here: "Instead of bringing a bunch of hydrating or brightening serums on a trip, I just stash a few of these Loops sheet masks in my bag. Because they're flat, they take up virtually no space, but they make my skin so dewy and prepped for makeup. Plus, they're so relaxing to use in the morning after you've had a long night." —Beth Gillette, Beauty Editor, Cosmopolitan

Supergoop Glow Screen SPF 40, $38, available here: "I swear I'm not just saying this to get into my dermatologist's good graces, but I don't go anywhere without this SPF — particularly in the summer, when my idea of a vacation involves spending all day, every day at the beach. Obviously, it's great that it keeps my skin protected (especially on the plane, where UV damage comes in sneakily hot), but what I really love about it is the nice, even glow it gives. It masks discoloration while making me look lit-from-within radiant, and is the only product I need on my face to feel confident and put together (though it's great to layer under foundation, too)." —Zoë Weiner, Senior Beauty Editor, Well+Good

Liis Fragrance Discovery Eau de Parfum Set, $42, available here: "A love of fragrance is a birthright in my family. (My maternal great-grandmother wore Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds every single day of her adult life.) It's very rare that I leave my apartment without spritzing on a scent, but this part of my routine becomes difficult while traveling, especially since I try to avoid checking a bag at all costs. That's where this discovery kit from Liis comes in handy: The small size makes it easy to throw in my toiletry bag, the vials last for months and each scent is basically a compliment magnet." —Ama Kwarteng, Beauty Director, Coveteur

Biba De Sousa The Zinc Mask, $59, available here: "Once I'm settled in my hotel, I immediately slap on this mask, which has an amazing cooling effect and cleans out my pores with zinc and fruit extracts." —Katie Intner, Associate Beauty Editor, Harper's Bazaar

Palette by Pak The Original High Fiver, $39, available here: "I truly don't know how I transported all of my lotions and potions pre-Palette by Pak. It's a refillable case that can hold up to five different products. I usually use it to carry a pared-down version of my skin-care routine, from cleansers to face oils. It doesn't hold that much product, so I'd recommend it for short getaways, rather than vacations where you'll be gone for weeks at a time." —Taylor Bryant, Editor, Beauty Independent

Elta MD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46, available here: "The one beauty product I always keep with me when traveling is definitely sunscreen. I love using Elta MD's oil-free UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46, which never breaks me out, doesn't leave behind a white cast and fits nicely in my carry-on." —Tiffany Dodson Davis, Beauty Commerce Editor, Harper's Bazaar
