Gearing up to celebrate the 4th of July? Don’t forget about breakfast! No matter what you’re doing to celebrate this year—from having a picnic, throwing a BBQ, or hitting a parade—a solid meal will start you off right and prepare you for wherever the day takes you. Whether you’re looking for breakfast on the go or recipes for a brunch to remember, these 18 4th of July breakfast recipes have your back.

4th of July is ALL about the red, white, & blue, so we’re pulling out all the stops, we mean berries! Our blueberry muffins, our strawberries 'n' cream granola bars, our lemon-blueberry breakfast cake, and our giant fruit danish are chock-full of our favorites, but feel free to mix and match with yours. You can top pretty much anything with cherries, blueberries, or strawberries (and a little whipped cream, it’s a holiday after all) for an abstract flag effect everyone will love.

One of our favorite things to celebrate on the 4th of July is how glad we are that America is a melting pot. We’re so lucky to be inspired by all the different cuisines we get to experience here. With that in mind, we’ve included some of our favorite breakfast traditions that either came from or were influenced by other countries, like our breakfast tostadas, our sabich sandwiches, our bagels & lox, and our Japanese soufflé pancakes. Let us know in the comments below what your favorites are too!

Want even more 4th of July inspiration? Check out our top recipes for a 4th of July picnic, our best 4th of July appetizers, and our favorite 4th of July drinks too.

Japanese Soufflé Pancakes

Despite the name, these soufflé-inspired pancakes were likely created in Hawaii, though we have Japan to thank for their popularity. They are an undoubtedly tough breakfast treat to master but with a combination of technique, zen-like patience and a dash of luck, you’ll be snacking on these pillowy confections in no time.

Lemon Blueberry Shortcakes

A strawberry shortcake is one of those quintessential decadent summer recipes we can't get enough of—we made this extra-fruity version so we can enjoy it even more. The buttery, flaky biscuits here are crowned with a homemade lemon curd (store-bought would be fine!), sweetened blueberries, and an easy whipped cream. It’s tart and sweet—and incredibly good.

Bagel & Lox

We're not too picky on how you top your bagel and lox, but we highly recommend slathering with our scallion cream cheese. If you really want some major cred for creating a truly Jewish bagel and lox, try swapping the cream cheese for salty, smoky whitefish salad.

Breakfast Tostadas

The toppings on these tostadas are our ideal toppings, but you can change them up however you’d like. Cook an over-easy egg instead or top with some sour cream. The best part is that these can be different every time you make them and still be so very good.
