If you missed TEFAF last month and didn't score the design items you wanted, don't fret: Christie's New York's design sale on June 7 boasts a selection that is just as impressive.

Like a museum exhibition, the 140 items up for grabs tell the story of a design in the past century. There is, of course, the experimental Tiffany Studio Pony Wisteria (remember the selection of Wisteria lamps from the Getty sale?), and a selection of mid-century icons by Pierre Chareau and Charlotte Perriand. There are a few Gio Ponti items that are like time capsules to the 1930s when practicality and simplicity were making it's way en vogue. Did someone say Diego Giacometti? There are a few of those, too.

Which are the less obvious treasures, you ask? Well, according to Victoria Tudo, the specialist heading the sale, one of them would be a set of mosaic tables by Roy Lichtenstein. "These tables can be considered as a precursor to the celebrated Ben-Day dots, the artist’s technique that took the art world by storm in the 1960s with shows at Leo Castelli New York," she tells T&C. "I love how playful squares of mosaic come to life from both afar and in close inspection, similar to ones ability to observe Lichtenstein’s iconic paintings such s Nurse or Ohhh. Alright." Design that doubles as art is always a yes, and this editor imagines these pieces to look great for a minimalist who should probably add a bit of color to their space, or a maximalist who just can't get enough.

When touring the sale, it's only natural that a mental wishlist starts to form. The below is a modest glimpse into that list.
