Restaurants have begun specialising in these addictive pancakes, with some even adding in a DIY element where you get to grill your okonomiyakis yourself!
From traditional okonomiyakis topped with pork belly slices, to more modern creations that include tom yum, curry powder and mochi, here are the 10 best okonomiyaki restaurants in Singapore to have a flippin’ good time.
A few minutes’ walk away from Beauty World MRT is Ajiya Okonomiyaki Restaurant, one of the few okonomiyaki establishments in Singapore that let you grill it yourself. In fact, if you choose to go down the DIY route, you’ll get to enjoy 10% off!
Ajiya Okonomiyaki Restaurant sports a cosy and homely interior, with counter and booth seats to cater to small and large group sizes.
Its Okonomiyaki (from S$14) comes in three variations: Seafood, Meat and Veggie, all of which come with a choice of three ingredients. For example, picking the Seafood Okonomiyaki option would allow you to pick from ingredients such as Prawn, Scallop and Tako, while the Meat Okonomiyaki includes Bacon and Pork Belly.
For that extra fun element, we’d recommend that you opt for the DIY route and cook your okonomiyaki yourself. Not only will you get 10% off, the helpful staff will provide you with an hourglass so that you won’t have to worry about burning your okonomiyaki.
Tucked away along Dunlop Street in Jalan Besar is Seiwaa Okonomiyaki & Teppanyaki Restaurant, a hidden gem that offers a DIY okonomiyaki experience with a wide variety of toppings.
My dining companion and I opted for the Mix Okonomiyaki (S$18), which came with pork, squid and shrimp. In a bid to be adventurous, we asked to fry our okonomiyaki ourselves.
From mixing the okonomiyaki batter to cooking the okonomiyaki, and flipping the pancake to topping it with our sauces of choice, everything was such a hands-on and fun experience. Though our okonomiyaki turned out to be a little out of shape, the flavours were spot on— savoury, crunchy, nicely seasoned flour batter and undeniably delicious.
For our second okonomiyaki, we decided to opt for something unconventional, and ordered the Tomyum Okonomiyaki (S$20) and added on Cheese (S$3) and Ramen Noodle (S$5).
This time, we asked the staff to help cook our okonomiyaki as we weren’t entirely sure how to go about including the ramen noodles and cheese. Watching the staff expertly layer the okonomiyaki batter, ramen noodles, cheese slices and tom yum sauce was such an eye-opening experience!
As Seiwaa has limited tables with hot plates, do make a reservation prior to coming down to avoid being disappointed. For those with a huge appetite, be sure to come for Seiwaa’s 90-minute à la carte weekday buffet, which includes okonomiyaki too.
3. Nanjya Monjya Waterfront
Nanjya Monjya Waterfront is an authentic Japanese restaurant that’s located beside Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel along Havelock Road. It has outlets in Shinjuku and Bangkok, all of which offer DIY okonomiyaki!
It has indoor and outdoor seating, the latter of which offers a great view of the Singapore river.
Don’t be overwhelmed by its menu, which is mostly in Japanese, because that’s how you know it’s really authentic!
For okonomiyaki choices, we recommend you go with the classic Pork Belly Pizza (S$17) or Beef Pizza (S$18). Nanjya also has plenty of other interesting choices, like Corn Pizza (S$16) and Leek Pizza (S$18). Pair your okonomiyaki with several side dishes like Potato Mentai Cheese Yaki (S$18) or Ika Wata Yaki (S$22), which is grilled squid.
4. Teppan Works
Teppan Works is a casual yet sleek Japanese restaurant located along Tras Street specialising in teppanyaki. It even has teppanyaki omakase from S$89 per pax, which features a seven-course meal stuffed with grilled steaks, omelettes and okonomiyaki!
While Teppan Works’ main menu features teppanyaki items like A4 Wagyu Sirloin (S$79 for 130g) and Foie Gras Steak with Original Sauce (S$48), okonomiyaki fans will delight in its Pork Okonomiyaki (S$14) and Original Cheese Sauce Okonomiyaki (S$19).
Those feeling indulgent can opt for the Wagyu Suji Negiyaki (S$28), an okonomiyaki with spring onions and wagyu beef. You can also add noodles at an additional S$6.
5. Tsuruhashi Fugetsu Singapore
Diners who’ve been to Suntec City’s Eat At Seven, an enclave of Japanese restaurants that’s more popularly known as “that stretch of Japanese shops near the Sky Garden”, will recognise Tsuruhashi Fugetsu Singapore.
This famous Japanese restaurant hails from Osaka and specialises in authentic okonomiyaki!
Its okonomiyaki dishes are a spectacular delight, with gleaming sauces that’s drenched in a circular shape. Its most affordable okonomiyaki is the cabbage-based Grilled Pork Tama (S$12.80++), while those who’d prefer to include noodles in the cabbage mix can try the modanyaki instead.
For the ultimate okonomiyaki experience from Japan, try Tsuruhashi Fugetsu’s Fugetsu Yaki Special Tama (S$28.80++), which is a cabbage-based okonomiyaki with pork, squid, prawns, beef, and oysters from Japan!

6. Makan Koryouri
With over 100 items on their menu, Makan Koryouri is a must-try if you’re looking for authentic Japanese cuisine in a laidback setting. It’s nestled in the historic Kampong Glam district, and can be found along Kandahar Street, just a minute’s walk from Masjid Sultan.
Most online reviews have praised its izakaya-style offerings, ranging from Tori Karaage (S$10) to Ikageso Karaage (S$8), which is deep-fried squid.
However, its okonomiyaki menu is pretty extensive as well, including eight options such as Yasai Tama (S$10), vegetable Japanese pancake, and Gyusuji Tama (S$13), which is beef tendon Japanese pancake. You can also add on additional toppings in the form of Soba (S$5), Kimchi (S$3) and Mochi (S$2).

Misato quickly rose to fame once it launched its à la carte buffet in 2019, which allowed diners to order as many à la carte dishes as they wanted for an affordable price. Even after it stopped its buffet, people still flocked to this quaint Japanese restaurant for its high quality offerings.
Misato prides itself on using authentic and stellar ingredients directly imported from Japan, so it was no surprise that its Okonomiyaki (S$17.90) blew me out of the park with its savoury and tangy flavours.
Served on a hotplate, this was a massive pancake made of cabbage, egg and pork belly, slathered with a tangy sauce and topped with dry bonito flakes. I loved how the pancake was thick with generous layers, and the crispy pork belly added a nice smoky aftertaste.
8. Yaki Yaki Bo
Teppanyaki restaurants are one of my favourite guilty pleasures, because it’s super satisfying to watch a skilled teppanyaki chef whip up a storm in front of your very eyes.
To satiate both your teppanyaki and okonomiyaki cravings, head to Yaki Yaki Bo, which is located in the &JOY Japanese Food Street sections of NEX and Jurong Point.
Yaki Yaki Bo offers five types of okonomiyaki: Salmon, Butatama (pork), Kaisen (seafood), Hotate and Mentai, with prices ranging from S$11.90 to S$13.90.
Depending on your cravings or preference, you can go for either the Butatama, a classic okonomiyaki variant with sliced pork, or the Mentai, which comes topped with umami-packed mentaiko sauce for that mildly spicy and salty kick.
9. The Ramen Stall
Hear me out. I know it’s called The Ramen Stall, but this place sells more than just a great bowl of ramen. Located along North Bridge Road, this Halal-certified cosy Japanese eatery offers a wide variety of Japanese dishes with a local twist. Think mala ramen, truffle maki and even chicken floss maki!
At The Ramen Stall, the Okonomiyaki (S$12.90) is a must-try. This well-loved Japanese street food is packed with savoury flavours, and netizens have complimented it on its texture, which is crispy on the outside yet fluffy on the inside. Pair it with your favourite bowl of ramen, like the fiery Volcano Chicken Ramen (S$13.90) which comes in three spice levels, for the ultimate indulgence.
10. Tomo Izakaya
Stepping into Clarke Quay’s Tomo Izakaya might just transport you to Japan. Its decorations, such as Japanese lanterns and Chabudai-style dining areas, are intricate and well thought out. If you love dining with a view, you can opt for its alfresco seating for a view of the Singapore river.
Its Okonomiyaki (S$18) comes with cabbage and seafood, and is topped with generous amounts of bonito flakes.
As Tomo Izakaya specialises in small-bite dishes, be sure to pair the okonomiyaki with other side dishes, such as Surume Ika (S$19), grilled Japanese squid, or Kushi Mori (S$24 for five sticks), which is its assorted skewers platter.
If you’d prefer to go for a fuller meal instead, try Tomo Izakaya’s chirashi dons, such as its Zenbu-Happy Chirashi (S$32), which comes with sashimi, sea urchin, grilled eel, beef steak, chopped tuna belly and salmon roe!
Note that Tomo Izakaya also has another outlet at Esplanade, but it sports a much smaller menu.
