$0.50 lok lok until 2am, newly launched at Qi Xiang Chicken Pot

For me, no trip to JB is complete without grabbing some lok lok before crossing the border back home. I’m pretty sure it’s a universal experience, too. It’s just so affordable; how could our local S$1 lok lok sticks possibly hold up against their RM1 counterparts?

Well, what if I told you that you could save on those detours and get your cheap lok lok fix right here in Singapore? I’m talking skewers priced at S$0.50 each, and you can get them from Qi Xiang Chicken Pot. What’s more, these are available until 2am — perfect for quelling those late-night hunger pangs!

Qi Xiang Chicken Pot is situated in a coffeeshop in the famous ‘supper stretch’ along Upper Serangoon Rd. Although they specialise in hearty chicken hotpots, they recently launched a menu of what they call ‘SG-style’ lok lok that will be available from 10.30pm to 2am daily.

It only gets better from here. If you sign up for a free membership under the Qi Xiang Rewards programme, you’ll get to enjoy your skewers at just S$0.50 each. With a minimum of 10 sticks per order, you’ll be able to eat a satisfying fill of lok lok for as low as S$5!

Otherwise, you can get them at S$0.80 per pop. “Cannot go lower already,” said Qi Xiang’s owner, Lex, in a Facebook reel by 偷吃 Foodie King. Indeed, their offerings are unmatched in affordability as far as local lok lok spots go.

The range of lok lok at Qi Xiang features more than 80 ingredients, including crowd favourites like pork belly-wrapped enoki mushrooms, potato slices and chicken thigh.

You can choose to have them the traditional way — battered then fried and seasoned. Alternatively, you can cook the skewers in their house-made mala hotpot, priced at S$9.90 for members. This way, you’ll have a delicious, spicy broth to wash it all down.

If you’re there for dinner, or perhaps aren’t in the mood for mala or fried lok lok, Qi Xiang also offers a range of comforting hotpots that are perfect for sharing. These include the likes of Herbal Chicken Pot and Laksa Pot and are priced from S$26.90. They vary according to the ingredients you choose to include, such as assorted meats, vegetables and noodles.
