Zhu Yilong wins his first Golden Rooster award

14 Nov – Wuhan-born actor Zhu Yilong is elated to win his very first Golden Rooster Awards' Best Actor for his performance in "Lighting Up the Stars".

The actor, who bested contenders like Jackson Yee ("Nice View") and Wu Jing ("The Battle at Lake Changjin"), admitted that he didn't expect to win or think that he would one day stand on the podium with the Golden Rooster accolade in his hand.

Said the Beijing Film Academy alumnus, "At this moment, I think it is a major event in my life, and today is the 12th year of my graduation. In these 12 years, whenever I had the opportunity, I would try and make movies... I think there is no shortage of good actors in China, but sometimes what is lacking may be just an opportunity."

Although this is his first win at a prestigious award, Zhu is already an award-winning actor of his own right, having won accolades at various movie awards including the Zhejiang TV Award and the Changchun Film Festival.

In "Lighting Up the Stars", Zhu plays the role of a funeral director whose life changes when he crosses path with a little girl.
